In a split second I had a basketball sized impact on my window, it actually collapsed the glass inward a bit, and I could hardly see out of the window. Thankfully I had just added comprehensive to my insurance only 3 months prior....so my $300 glass replacement was $100. It cracked a week after they put it in too....so I got a second one for free....and its been fine since.

Big rocks are scary when they hit the window at 80+ mph!
Nice, but not as sweet as this:

Last summer, I was driving an old Saturn SL (plastic car). On my way to work, I rear ended a Jeep going about 5 mph...my hood, bumper, and grill were destroyed (Jeep was fine-not a scratch).

The hood wouldn't latch correctly, so I tied it down with rope, in order to get home.

Got home fine, got home late, couldn't deal with it that night. I drove to work the next day...

At about 7am, I was traveling south on I-75, going about 75mph, in the center of three lanes, in full-on rush hour traffic. The rope holding my hood down, snapped, and my windshield flew up and absolutely smashed my entire windshield with the force of 10,000 men.

Not being able to see anything (there was still some glass hanging on, right in my line of sight), I just swerved hard to the left, trying desperately to get to the shoulder. I barely missed the car to my left, and brought the entire mess to a stop right next to the median.

I thought my heart stopped for a second - it was insane. I needed to sit there an catch my breath for a good 10 minutes or so....before calling my wife to pick me up.

I sold that Saturn a week later, and picked up my Benz....
