YOU'RE RIGHT!!! I hadn't gotten down on my knees (with my reading glasses) to look all the way under the armrest. There IS one very small black philips head screw tucked under there! The removal procedure you outline sounds very similar to the process for removing the dash grills in my 450SL. I'll give it a shot and let you know how it goes. BTW- I ordered the Rainbow speakers!..."Holiday Sale" for $319 for the complete set of two fronts and two rears. A little pricey, but they look like good quality German manufactured units. The fact that they will drop right in without modifications makes it worth the price. Pretty soon that radio will sound like it hasn't for years! Many thanks for the help.
