I rebuilt the brakes on my 500SLC. It's not worth it. the cylinder bores could be rusty and may need to be honed. I used air pressure to pop the pistons out but all said it took a long time, it's risky, the kits are not that cheap and rebuilt ones from Autozone etc are not expensive.
