does anyone have any tips on removing a 190E rearview mirror? i've practiced a few times at the junkyard, but there are a few that are extremely stiff and difficult to remove and I end up just warping and bending the thin sheet metal where the metal spring bracket bolts to.

I need to replace my mirror this weekend and I don't want to mess up the mounting location of my mirror. maybe I should just cut away the mirror stalk until i can see the metal bracket screws and pop the spring out on the bench?
