i can just pull and yank it out, but the result of that is usually bending the metal that the bracket screws into. then when you put a mirror back, it is loose because the bracket doesnt bolt in properly anymore.

most of the older junkyard cars have weaker springs so its easier to remove. but the ones with nicer kept interiors, have stiffer mirror springs so they dont really want to come out.
