My '79 300TD was Zeibarted after in came from SoCal. The PO also repainted and did some other minor cosmetic work.

It's still rust free (maybe seen 1/2 a winter), but I don't want to use it as a daily winter car. Besides starting issues at -10F temps, the rust will catch up with it. Once that happens, it'll essentially a worthless car. No one wants a 31 year-old rusty diesel Mercedes, except maybe for mechanical or interior parts. No point in spending $4k on rust repair and a so-so paint job. It's a shame really, as I'd love to drive the thing year 'round.
