Would we be talking about the small tab in the upper right of the attached picture? If so, then your deflector has already had the updated springs installed. Could be the springs themselves need to be replaced again, or it could be that the long leg of the springs weren't properly seated in the holes. There are two small holes at the front edge of the tray where the long leg should be positioned, getting the leg in the hole while setting the deflector shaft in the hinge socket isn't impossible, just takes a couple tries.
