Finally getting around to dealing with this....having a son learning to drive has a way of motivating me to fix things!  As I have identical cars, I can just swap switches or relays to diagnose.
One question out of curiosity (and I'm sure ignorance): How would a dirty switch account for the symptom I describe (blinking for a few minutes then staying on)? Doesn't the switch simply complete the circuit? Doesn't a failing relay more likely account for the symptom?
