Is it true that W123 turbo oil filter tower won't fit to W126 chassis?

Posting this problem here thinking that perhaps somebody could verify that this is for real and that I am not just overlooking something and being stupid.

I’m doing a motorswap on a W126 turbodiesel car and ended up using the oil filter tower from a W123 OM617 turbo motor (I have a “thingie” that converts the oil P to electric signal for the W126 chassis).

All is fine, except that I am discovering that the W123 oil filter tower is too wide to fit next to the W126 steering box and hence the driver’s side motor mount is not quite lining up properly. Don’t like this! Been trying to shave off the tower but it seems to be going nowhere partially as there’s not whole lot of room to work with. Don’t really want to pull the motor back out but might have to. Also using the original W126 oil filter tower is not an option as it is pretty much trashed.

Any ideas? I’ve got the tail of the motor installed correctly (tranny mount) and am using the original W126 OM617 motor mounts…
