Screwiest thing I've seen lately.

I'm all for a clean environment but I feel we are screwing ourselves if this system comes about because we are competing on a WORLD market and the world market does NOT jump through hoops for the environment. More justification for a flat tax in my opinion.

Has anyone ever looked at the chit that one volcano dumps into the atmosphere when it blows it's top? For all practical purposes there are ways to clean up the environment without unleveling the playing field. If the US gov't was serious about doing something to help the environment they would outlaw V8 engines accross the board in all personal vehicles/light pickup trucks. Oh yea that's right, the US government has a vested interest in GM who makes more money on the overweight, bloated, full sized, v8 engined vehicles they sell. It would be a conflict of interest. Anyway, another way would be to require everyone in the US that fills out a tax form to register their mileage driven every year on their tax form and require $.50/mile for every mile driven. If you don't like to pay the tax, don't drive. Ya'll remember a few years ago the gov't allowed tax deductions for those big gas guzzlers.
