The same thing happened back in my home town in the 60's. A 707 landed at the local airport where the max runway length is a little over 5000 feet.

The specs on the plane state a typical landing run of 6000' so I reckon' they had everything hung out to get it stopped. I remember my father telling me that all of the seats had to be removed to lighten the plane enough to make a safe takeoff.
