Cam bolts go back to the 60's so nothing new there. As for interchangeability probably not as each model will need slightly different sizes. There are companies that make aftermarket alignment bolts. The bolts are not likely to be aluminum as that would not be strong enough / threads would fail.

These older cam bolts are eccentrics in a slotted hole to allow for small increments of change.

Some MB use a cam bolt that is removed then rotated 180 / moved to a notched hole to allow for limited stepped adjustment.
