So I just purchased a 1984 euro 300d with the five speed getrag transmission. All the synchros seem in good order and the fifth gear overdrive works great on the highway. The one problem I have seems to be with the clutch. It is not as smooth as I think it should be. I have to be very slow and deliberate to get quiet and smooth action. Anything faster and it is very clunky. I also hear a little chatter from time to time when the clutch is released in gear. Maintenance records show the slave cylinder was replaced about six years ago. Any ideas?
