Generally, " ISO 46 " designates viscosity only not the type of oil. " AW 46 " designates Anti Wear hydraulic oil that is an ISO viscosity of 46.

I did find some references that in Europe ISO is generically used in hydraulic oil descriptions but that is like saying " You need SAE 10W-30 oil " , it is not a complete oil specification.

Others seem to be describing "HY-Trans" or " Universal Tractor Fluid " , this is a higher grade hydraulic fluid designed for wet clutches , brakes , gear trains in farm / construction tractors / equipment.
