There are still a few older Mazda products for sale locally with wankle designed engines. Our common engines today remain the same basically after over a hundred years for fundamental design principals.

The other oddity of my time was the three cylinder two stroke engines in the German DKW cars. There were a few in my neighborhood where I grew up.
Saab had them too. Seven moving parts...one crank, three rods, three pistons.
