Cam Engine

This was totally new to me. Like a v-8 had unnatural relations with a Wankle.

Internal-Combustion Cam Engines.

I have over the years seen a lot of engine design variations. Although never cam engines. Interesting.

There are still a few older Mazda products for sale locally with wankle designed engines. Our common engines today remain the same basically after over a hundred years for fundamental design principals.

The other oddity of my time was the three cylinder two stroke engines in the German DKW cars. There were a few in my neighborhood where I grew up.

Drawings of them (stanadynes) look very complicated, but when torn down their simplicity can be seen.

I have rebuilt several of them.

Saab had them too. Seven moving parts...one crank, three rods, three pistons.
