The tool is a ball joint press. It required making a few bushings out of tube stock to move the old bushing out carefully. Replacement is easier yet care must be taken to not rip the sealed bushing.
On a lift the control arm was propped up with a stand to hold everything in place. The only thing removed was the bolt holding the bushing to the arm/wheel carrier.
It is not a do it yourself job.
