Transmission vac modulator is on the passenger side, I THINK, haven't looked on that particular model.

Follow the while plastic hose from the vac switch on the valve cover or IP to the modulator. If you pull the hose off, it will have tranny fluid in it if the modulator is leaking. If it's clean, it's not the modulator, the smoke is from somewhere else.
