Bad vacuun modulator sucking fluid out of the tranny and blowing it down the intake, or a leaking cooler line dripping on the exhaust. Only way for it to get in there.
However, ENGINE oil can get into the exhaust form bad seals on the turbo bearings, if you have a turbo. Peter

Transmission vac modulator is on the passenger side, I THINK, haven't looked on that particular model.
Follow the while plastic hose from the vac switch on the valve cover or IP to the modulator. If you pull the hose off, it will have tranny fluid in it if the modulator is leaking. If it's clean, it's not the modulator, the smoke is from somewhere else. Peter

BTW-What color is that smoke? FYI-The modulator is on the driver's side on the 722.xxx trannies. You should pull the vac line that runs from the IP to the modulator and see if there's fluid in it.
