Looks like I may have a bad oil pump on my 1991 350SDL with 159K miles on it.

Replacing due to pressure being almost nil at idle and a bit over "2" on the gauge at higher RPM's.

Does anyone here know what causes these pumps to fail?

When dropping the pan to replace the oil pump are there any other logical parts to replace?
