Guess what is back in my driveway???

Yes...after 2 long years, I got back the '69 250. When I sent it away, at least the exterior of this car was nice...now THAT'S shot!! Mechanically, nothing has changed. But as my hope for this car was long lost, my optimistic husband has stepped up to the challenge.
We now own an engine hoist and are soon planning to pull the engine...his question is whether or not a diesel engine could be put in it's place...(I think I might already know the answer to that question)...I've never SEEN a 250D before...but how about a 240D engine? (Is this a weird question?)

Oh...and guess what else...the people holding this car for me LOST THE KEY!! UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Has anyone ever had to get a locksmith to make a key for them? I mean, is it true that an ignition key couldn't be created from a door cyinder, right??? Aren't they different keys??
Am I SCREWED???????? Do I need a new ignition????
