dwest, assuming your transmission has a drain for the torque converter, there's no need for the 'disconnect return line' method. MB made it so the pan and torque converter can be drained to get most (>85%?) of the fluid replaced with little fuss or mess. The 'disconnect return line' method is reserved for cars with no drain for the torque converter (personal recommendation).
