I've never actually removed the flange to replace the pump. I've just unbolted the pump from the flange directly.

I was finally able to seperate the water pump from the fan clutch with the application of heat and PB blast and a good large set of vise grips. The hard part is holding the stinking pully stationary while doing all that.

A few well placed smacks with a hammer worked the pump free of the flange. Wan't JB weld. Just a fair bit of rust mating the pump with the flange.

On to tackle the thermostat housing.. wee..
