i am not sure what the part is called or what the part number is...but when i was doing remote start in my 93 300D, Directed Electronics, the makers of my remote start system, told me that i needed an MB part, something like a vacuum change or vacuum switch over...i will take a look at my part later today and see if i can get the part #...
essentially, what it is is a small valve with 3 vacuum line connections and 2 electrical wire connections...
u have to have a ground and signal line from the ignition control of the remote started send a signal when remote start is activated that controls this valve...
the hose going to the shut off valve, the valve with the "STOP" lever on your engine, runs into this new part, a hose then runs from this part to the valve on the engine, the other connection of this new part stays open for dumping the vacuum...
when the remote start engages, the signal is sent to the new part that opens/closes the vacuum and lifts the lever..not sure if it opens or closes it, but it does one of them...now that the lever is up, fuel will run into the engine and allow the car to start...when the remote start is shut off, it cuts the signal to that valve...if the key is in the ignition and on, the car will continue to run, as it should, if the key is not in, the engine will cut off, as it should...
i have been running this part for over a year with no problems...however, now, my shut off valve is acting up, engine wont cut off when key is shut off...not sure if this part has anything to do with that...though i doubt it...
like i mentioned, i will try to get a part # for u...i have attached a drawing of what the part looks like though...
hope this helps...
