woa! I remember starting up a detroit 6.2 after replacing the starter, without the front bracket attached because I couldn't find some fastener. The thing shook like a bowl full of jelly, and I had just tightened the 2 hefty rear bolts TIGHT. I shut it off real quick and found that fastener I'm somewhat surprised that starter wasn't coming off every other day, but I think the 617 is a lot smoother than the 6.2.
