I have not seen the episode but if anything they managed to take a complicated subject and present it in a way that would be digestable by an audience that can only maintain concentration on any given subject for 5-10 minutes.

Personally, that's what got me into driving a diesel Benz, as they are the most numerous type after 20 years of driving. But think of it this way -- all these people who will start filling their tanks with cold WVO will drive their cars into the ground quickly and make what's left over very valuable. And we can all say "told you so".

That's why I got the car. My brother showed me how to convert it to run on wvo and I was just intending to beat on it back and forth to college for a few years. Fortunately, before I got the wvo kit hooked up I found this site, which gave me more appreciation for the car than I could have gotten on my own. Now I appreciate them for what they are and I'm pleased with myself because I know if all my wvo sources dried up tomorrow, I'd still be driving these cars. I've added two other W123's to my stable since then and I'll be looking at another this afternoon.

I want mine for the 920+ miles per week I will start putting on it in three weeks. My driving profile is perfect for SVO. I get in on Monday morning, drive it for 460 miles, and then use it in town through Thursday. Thrusday afternoon I get in and drive it 460 miles back home. I'll use it on SVO/WVO for the 460 miles trips. I'll use diesel/biodiesel on startup, shutdown, and while driving around town.

Now all I need is a new driver's seat. The thigh supports are flat worn out. Any ideas on where to get a seat? How about getting this one repaired/repadded/recovered?

i want mine for driving on DIESEL, LIKE IT WAS MEANT TOO. it pisses me off that once fuel prices rise, everyone wants an old mercedes and then this forum explodes with tons of new members that only wanna know about bio and wvo. on top of that they dont search!!! everyday theres another post about wvo and how someone wants to convert. if i had some bio i might run it once in a while. veggie? hell no not unless i was out of fuel and there wasnt a diesel station around.

I agree, I run mine on diesel, it has the most power on it, and is what the MB engineers designed it for. When people like Adam and Jamie on the mythbusters take an old MB diesel and say "look! you can dump cooking oil right in and go for free!" it makes tons of crazy people line up looking for these cars, then they try it, ruin it, and send it to the scrap-yard, with 0 appreication for the car itself and thereby taking tons of these cars out of existence and making it harder for the people that appreciate them to find any nice examples anymore.

I burn almost 80 gallons of diesel a month usually, and am perfectly glad to run it on diesel. I've been on the highway with veg oil when I tried a tank to see how it was. Acceleration is lost by about 15% from a standstill, and highway passing power is probably 20% less. Plus, I don't fully trust that it doesn't hurt the engine. When I have seen pictures of a teardown of a MB engine that was run 75-100k+ on veg oil then I'll believe its safe and worth it.

Well get used to it... send them over to www.bidiesel.infopop.cc. That is where I go for my Bio/SVO questions and comments. I come here for Mercedes specific info. Put a sticky up with the link.

Sounds to me that you are just mad about the increased demand and rising prices for your obsession. I don't blame you. I was a little pissed about manual transmission Jetta TDI's selling for 3000-4000 over the person to person prices. I got over it. I got a Mercedes.

It was a good show, remember it was was writen for the average moron.

I agree completly kmaysob, I hate seeing perfectly good MB's trashed because of botched WVO experiments.

I wanted a diesel Mercedes when I was 15 and fuel was still cheap. I want a Mercedes and I want it to be diesel, I couldn't care less about WVO and such. If fuel was $1.50 a gallon agian, I'd still be driving my diesel MB, and all the WVO cars would be rotting in a field.

Rudolf diesel did not design our engine, he designed his....the engines in our cars came many years later, and were designed to run petrol diesel fuel.

As for using a lot of diesel, I can't really afford it, but I have no choice, as there's no WVO around here and for my purposes I'd need the full heated tank system anyways, which would cost $$$$ that I don't have. Too many obstacles to use it. As for biodiesel, I did run it, but it is only 3-5 cents less a gallon around here for B20 (the highest blend available at a pump) B100 is only available by delivery in orders of 180 gallons or more, price? $3.50 a gallon

The one station that has the B20 (and delivers B100) is 12 miles from my house, utterly not worth it, it'd cost $3 just to go fill it up.

If diesel goes above about $3.30ish a gallon I'll switch to Sams Soy oil blend again. I have a rewards card for my gas station that takes about 12 cents a gallon off, so right now the 2.99 only costs me about 2.87 or so.....

I support the wvo idea, I just can't really take part in it.
