Good riddance. A trend whore brought his single-tank into my shop after he broke his cam in 3 places.

It's about time that L-Crap is out of business!

I believe it's law now that all pump diesel in WA needs to be B2 or higher. Barely anything, but it's enough to bring the lubricity back. Maybe why my delivery valve seals started to leak recently?

Nope.

I agree....its pointless. Especially in cold climates like ours. I can't imagine trying to heat a tank of WVO with coolant in the dead of winter....my engine can barely heat the inside of the car! :D You'd need like 70-100 amps worth of electrical heating equipment, and some huuuge alternator....that would sap several HP off the engine and wear out belts....yeah, not worth it.

You have a problem with your heat exchanger inside your car or have a stuck open thermostat.:D

There is so much wasted heat ( energy ) from cooling the engine with your coolant that you can take a hot bath 10 times over every day.:P

The difference between the M and MW pump aside, aren't the NA cars older than the turbo cars?

Unless you have a new CDI you can safely run B-11 to B-20.

How have you managed to have been on this forum since 2005 and not posted your location or your car? Are you in the witness protection program?

I was unspecific. I burn a lot more diesel in the Jetta, and while it's not a CDI, it does run the same 30,000PSI of the CDI and calls for no more than B5.

I run B11-20 in the Benz sometimes, but I really don't like buying stuff that isn't labeled properly.

I haven't ruled out a not-working-that-great heater core.....but my thermostat is fine....I replaced it last year. Engine runs 80-82C year round.

Being in San Diego...perhaps you don't realize how cold it gets here! There is NO extra heat available with a 617 on the colder days. I drove 14 miles on the highway the other night, interior heat on high, it got pretty warm, but the engine temp only reached 80C....When I got home I checked the radiator....COLD. As in, the thermostat never had to open, all extra heat went into the car. Scary eh?

In the real dead of winter when its like 15F or less out, you could probably just loop the coolant hoses and get rid of the radiator/fan altogether on a 617 and not have any issues.

With a gasser they make a lot more waste heat....our 300E gets right up to temp in about 4-5 mins even on super cold days, and the radiator is warm even with a comfortable interior temp. Those wasteful gassers....

Heater core will about cool a 616 in the winter. Gotta block the rad or the tstat bypass to get proper operating temp below 0-5F

I dont consider b5 biodiesel

....

It technically is but it's more of an additive rather than a fuel.

I guess Kris lost control of the stations?

Is Kent Bullard's B99.9 co-op still alive and well?

So do lawsuits, you can only ruin so many new Benzes before one of them is owned by a lawyer.........

Don't you think they would ask the owners to sign a waiver? Who in their right mind would do the modification with WVO not an approved fuel.:D

BTW, I am not a lawyer.

The waiver is only as good as the lawyer who wrote it and the amount of money the seller has to pay the lawyer. A good lawyer can take out any small business with sue and stall tactics and counter suits. But I would agree ultimately supply and demand has taken its toll...

The sad part is the number of wvo modified cars that are on CL, most with busted IP's or other similar issues. Oh the fools that ruined good to great cars on a fad that they will never recoup the losses from.

Its also a critical thinking problem. I understand people buying LC kits when they were nothing more than a Davco filter with a Lovecrap sticker, Davco makes a great filtration system. But their "maintenance free" "filter" system was clearly nothing more than a household water strainer with a sock filter zip-tied over it. How people could possibly perceive that as a "good value" for $450 plus $300 installation is beyond me.

When I think of a typical LC user, I always recall this water condensation filled ebay picture.

The condensation pix is indeed scary.
