E-85 Ethanol

OK, we all know how high diesel is (and gasoline) but recently I have seen a station near me that is running e-85 (Ethanol) will our Diesels burn this? Or start up on it rather? I have a 75 240D... The Fuel Prices were around this Diesel $3.79, Reg Gas $3.39, E-85 3.13!!!! I said hmmmmmmmmmmm fill-up? but I was going quite a ways and didn't want to risk breaking down having to drain it etc.... Ideas?

Do not put E85 ethanol in that vehicle.

DO NOT RUN E85! You'll regret it really quick, it will destroy the engine.

E85 is a Reg Gas alternative. Putting it in a diesel would have a similar result to putting Reg Gas in it. You dont even want to think about what it would do !!!

put 10 gallons of e99 in my F350 by mistake... Lets just say the truck puked in about a minute. fortunately I caught it before I filled the second tank. required a full draining and then refill with a gallon of transmission fluid and diesel. Everything seems fine now.

Diesel at $3.79 and 147K BTU's/gal of energy vs E85 at $3.13 with 81.8K BTU's/gallon turns out to be a better deal at 38786 BTU's per dollar than 26134 BTU's per dollar with E85.

Ignoring that e85 won't work in a diesel, it's the worst deal you can get at the pump.
