Got a fill - and surely my engine even more smooth now. Had a nice chat with @secondaries too.

what causes the engine to run smoother with B100 anyway?

Higher cetane number, between 55-65 compared to ULSD (minimum 40). Higher cetane rating fuel combusts more readily in compression ignition engines.

Will B100 have the effect of cleaning my tank and fuel level sending unit? My gauge was sticking at 1/4 so I put some Startron in the tank for the last few fill ups. The gauge has worked its way up to 1/2 now when I fill up. I think I may have had an algae problem.

Anything that B100 might do (besides make your car run) is purely speculative. If your tank needs to be cleaned you need to remove it and clean it. It does have detergent and lubricant qualities, so it may have an effect on your fuel sending unit, but nobody here will know for sure. Best bet, is just address the problem directly. If you have algae in your tank, try a shot of biocide and then clean the tank.

If you're local and want to swing by for a few gallons of fuel, I'll throw a complimentary shot of BIOBOR JF into your tank.

if you're referring to a w123 the fuel sending unit is relatively easy to remove and clean (just be gentle) from inside the car. access is by removing the first aid kit. i think theres a DIY here on how to do it.

Thanks for the offer but I believe it would be a 3 day trip for me. I am in W PA. I found a station that sells B100 which is about 20 miles away. Next time I plan on being on that side of the city I will try to time my fill up so I can take advantage of it.
