Door card / panel repair

I'm in the middle of sorting out the four doors on my W123 saloon / sedan and one of the door cards / panels has been brutally buggered by someone.

It's a bit floppy now.

Has anyone got any repair tips or tricks?

I don't really want to reinforce it as the additional thickness might cause it to pop off the door more easily.

I'm not sure if it will be easy to replace the broken card without knackering the vinyl on the other side.

Is a good second hand replacement my only option?

The early W201 has an incredibly cheap (ie.. water soluble fiber board) panel that warps in the slightest humidity.

It is much more finicky with regards to thickness and is mounted by sliding clips.

I was able to repair two panels by re-enforcing the back with fiberglass resin such as you would do on a boat.

In your application, you would only need a thin layer to prevent further cracking. I think its a good option if the panels are too expensive in your neck of the woods.

Nice one thanks I'll give it a go.
