Dr. Parts hopefully you can help with your microfiche. Please anyone with some good sources chime in.

I Have been searching for a specific body part for a '79 300SD W116, and have been unable to find a number for it or a place that carries it.

I have been in contact with K&K Manufacturing, and they told me the part was available from Mercedes, So I ordered it from the dealer.

The part is the inner frame rail(side member), which is the part that the rocker panel covers and mounts to. It has the jack ports attached to it, the seatbelts bolt to it, the floor pan edge attaches to it, etc. The part is number 116-610-04-09. I got it from the dealer because k&k could not get it for me, even though they COULD find the part number.

The problem is that unlike the new rocker panel that is complete and runs the length of the car, this part stops halfway through the back door. It is about 75% of the length of the original. So, I do not have the rear jackport, nor that section of inner frame rail. The dealer does not think that any other section is available, which I find hard to believe.

I can fabricate that part if I have to, I may not need to, since I have not removed the rocker panel yet and it may be fine, but I was hoping to find out beforehand so I would know where to get it if it is available. I would be happy if I could get just the jack port(which I have heard is available somewhere) for the rear. Otherwise I will have to get creative and get the blacksmith fire going....

Any help in finding this part would be greatly appreciated.
