Just a gallon of primer and a gallon of clear is $200 each. That's without the hardners and reducers.
The base coat will be a lot more expensive especially if it's red paint.

Your example is like comparing a timex to a rolex.

I do believe that you can get a decent paint job for less then $1000 in single stage ($1500 for a base coat clear coat). But not using these paints.

I believe that Glasurit® is what's used on Mercedes from the factory.
