When dealing with 3M ask for literature dealing with installing glass..they provided me with a handful of great information... When using ' glass bedding compound' check to see if you need a primer for the glass... some cars now use the windshield as part of the roll over and body structure strength ( yeah, right ) so the glue up of the windshield is critical... thus requiring cleanliness and the primer with no fingerprints in between... |

The sealant in this case is merely used to form a water-tight bond.

well i went to talk to the guy that put in front windshield.he says that trim goes into gasket(placing small pieces of tape-gorilla or duct-to hold trim in place until glass is seated in frame.soooo, with that in mind I pulled the entire thing out.cleaned it all very well and will attempt to install trim properly and reinstall glass.

Hey, congratulations! It sounds like you got through the hard part, and managed to get the glass back out without breaking it.
Be honest, now. You had a voodoo witch doctor helping, didn't you?

no magic.darn always liked magic....
anywho,I just slowly "folded" the gasket back thru the frame.started at the drivers corner worked down side about halfway then across the top to the other side and down to bottom.back to other side to finish folding thru, and voila one windshield/gasket/trim combo loose for removal. |
