I've tried both methods. On newer cars with thin skin they work, sort of. On the older cars, there's just too much "beef" in the metal for the methods to have much effect.

Ever used a "Ding King" dent removal tool? I bought one, but I've never even tried to use it. Maybe this Spring I'll try it out.

They work well - but like stated above you have to keep working at it with 123's and 126's where you have some metal.

I've heard that you have to be careful to avoid inverting the dent into a bump. Have you used one?

Yes - Inverting a dent (they call it an outee). They give you a tool for pushing those back in. Cheap cars like KIA have very thin metal and you need to use a smaller amount of adhesion. I have the DK Delux or Pro or something like that.

I've used a torch to take out hail damage before
of all the things listed above the "dent king" is the most effective. Dry ice is COLD and hard to handle, and can super cool the dent to the point where if it doesn't come out, the bodyman who takes it out will crack the metal, especially on the thinner metals like on Honda's and other Japanese cars. Nothing beats a hammer and dolly and a good bodyshop.

It's good to know this thing wasn't a waste of money. I guess I'd better get it out and get to work!

For those dents and dings in places where tools such as this Dent King wont work, there appears to be a tool that allows you to spot weld on a stud that can be used to pull out stubborn dents without drilling holes.

I think I saw one at either Harbor Freight or Northern Tool.

Pop out the dent, dremmel off the stud, grind, sand, primer and paint.

Anyone else heard of this?

I have a ding king tool and it works, but it does require an eye, skill, and patience to us it. Buying it was absolutely worthwhile.

Body shops use the weld-on stud method of straightening a panel all the time. This is the "new school" method. You don't have to drill and fill like with the old-school screw puller, which is a BIG time-saver.
