Electric DA?
Is there such a thing as an electric DA in either 5 " or 6"?
I have a 5 HP electric motor driving my air compressor. Its a 220V 30 A circuit, and the air compressor cannot keep up with my pneumatic DA. Somehow running all that electric for a sander seems wasteful. Are there any electric models out there?

I think you're talking apples and oranges here. Are you looking for a D/A (dual action ) sander? If so, then the electric ones run too fast for finish work. I use one (RIGID 5" model) for the quick "rough-out" stuff but have to resort to either hand blocks or the pneumatic for the final stuff. The electric ones will burn the paint down to metal in no time flat.
If you're talking R-O (random orbit) POLISHER then there are many fine electrics. |
