I've used POR15 on one of my other old buckets and it really works well. 5 yrs ago I put some on a rusting Jeep Pickup and basically the painted areas are still fine. Trucks ugly so I never overcoated it but the POR15 sure works well. I'll probably catch some flack about this, I was recently in contact with a company that makes one of those electrical things to help prevent rust. I had seen it on "Two Guys Garage" on the cable. Anyway the company said they would rather see it used on a rust repaired vehicle but that it "might" work well to slow down the process. I use one of the things on my 58 220S but that car isn't winter driven and is better taken care of then my wife and kids. I'm going to POR15 my 300D this spring to help slow down the rust. If I can effectively repair the holes in the trunk rear-well area I'll waxyol the insides of the doors and the floors and have the thing Macco painted to help it look a little better.

Wow that stuff looks great! I will take some new pictures of the rust on my car so you can see what I'm dealing with. This stuff looks promising. Did I read their stuff correctly, that this POR15 can be painted over and can be thinned out to spray... Could you 'prime' your car with it before painting? That would be a great thing: spray all of the sheet metal on a car with it at the factory!

Electrical anti-rust gizmo

I had a 1977 Toyota Celica for 13 years, drove it over 100,000 miles, and finally had to junk it because of the rust. It was rusted out under the vents atop the hood and when it would rain, all the water would pour down on my feet.

It really rains in Miami.

I bought one of those electrical anti-rust gizmos from JC Whitney when the very first spots of rust appeared. It seemed that if electricity would keep rust off of ships, it ought to work on a car, but it doesn't. I suspect that this may be because the charge is not great enough or that the car sits on rubber and is not grounded.

But it didn't work, not even a little bit. I also sprayed rustproofer everywhere at the same time. Save your money, use it to buy Waxoyl or POR15 or whatever.

Thanks for the heads up richard. I have not heard of such devices, but it doesn't suprise me that one exists. Have you seen the electro pimple removers? Tooth paste is a bit easier to find and a bit cheaper! Anyway, I will try to get some pictures of the rust here shortly.

Thanks for all of the help!!!!!
