Mercedes -paint primer?

Sort of an insignificant question, but the cat has gotten my curiosity.
I’m having the hood, front fenders, bumper painted on my MB. The shop owner asked me the other day when I had the hood previously repainted, never I said. He stated he could not remember seeing an MB with the first coat of light gray primer, then a dark brown primer/sealer, his partner said he has not seen this combination, but thought MB may have used a dark brown. I’ll call a outstate friend, and his shop has painted MB's for years, and he agreed that he has never seen this combination on a MB, stated he has never seen a dark brown primmer. H e thought maybe my Mercedes car hood was damaged and repainted at the MB service center at the port???
Well today we found out the two fenders and the doors are painted the same way.
Now I’m interested, and curious to know the answer, if the car was repainted? Does anybody know the primer colors combination used on a Desert Taupe-92 – 400E

I'm not sure about your model, but on the W201, the body-chassis units were completely dipped in primer before being robotically painted so I wonder if there were different colors of primer at the factory.

MTI- After reading your comment, I looked at 92 MB brochure, and my 124 body did have the zinc-phosphate bath, an rinse then the Epoxy primer applied in an dip process.
