I was at the dealer today and wanted to pick up the same speakers you need.
They had ordered the wrong ones. The parts guy looked them up again and all he could find was the entire door assembly, over $250!!!
I'm going through Bose's support to see if I can get them that way.

I'll reply with their cost and part number when I get them.

If I can't get replacements, I'm seriously thinking of dumping the entire Bose amp and speaker setup.

$250 is it? I'm surprised... welcome to Bose! Yes, $250 is what they want for a cheap assed paper driver and some plastic that doesn't sound that good in the first place. Do yourself a favor. Ditch the Bose system and invest in a proper stereo system. It'll cost more but you'll be MUCH happier in the long run.

frankly you would be better off changing out the speakers all together.

I did a friends 500sl (early 90's model)

Changed the headunit, put in amplifier, and put in components in the front and I believe a set of 4" as well in the front and 6x9's in the rear bench part, and it came out sounding pretty nice.

Thats how he wanted it. I didn;t want to do the rear bench, but he wanted more sound.

As for you, I would suggest you try some salvage yards and see if they have some. There are a few that may be able to get you these units used. I would check with potomac german auto or www.silverstarrecycling.com

Otherwise you could try a set of components speakers without changing the bose amps and such and see if it works out. But I am not sure on the Ohm ratings of the bose setup or power specifications.

Regards,

Alon

I agree. Bose puts 1 ohm speakers in the car so if you replace it with a 4 or 8 ohm speaker it doesn't have the same level.

I don't mind the head unit or changer. I do dislike paying $250 for a speaker that looks like it came out of an AM radio. For the same $250 I could replace all of the speakers in the car with good ones.

I checked with silverstarrecycling but they didn't have any. I noticed on ebay that some GM products have the same size Bose speakers and they are around $10 a pair.
