Becker Radio / Wiring Question

Gross
I just removed my radio to replace it with a MP3 / CD player and found it only has 2 channels, one channel for the left side and one for the right.

Anyone know where these wires are spliced together so I can separate them to make it 4 channels without rewiring the whole sound system.

Thanks

If you have a separate fader control then there is no need for the 4 channel from your head unit. You can either rewire all the speakers, or go from the fader control. Good luck!

The wires split at the fader in the shifter console. For mine I ran new wires to the front speakers and used the existing wires to feed the fader. Eventually I will run new wires to the rear speakers as well.

Of course I replaced the front speakers and have new ones for the rear as well.

I completely forgot about the fader

Do you know what size the front speakers are
No big deal if you don’t know off hand because I will be looking at them soon enough when I install my new dash cap.

Thanks

I'm pretty sure you will need to remove the fader from the speaker circuit. If you check your aftermarket MP3/CD player, it will warn you about using 'common' speaker wiring (see the diagram in this post...it's blurry, but you can make out the speaker-to-fader wiring easily Power antenna for w140 to fixed mast? ).

In my set-up, I extended and ran the existing wires for the rear speakers to the new HU, as separate pairs. The front speaker wires were long enough to simply re-route to the HU without extending them. I left the fader switch in the consol disconnected.

IMO, the factory speaker wires are big enough to handle anything the HU can deliver. The speakers are crap, though, so I replaced mine all round.

Agreed.... remove that factory fader. In my w124s, I removed the entire wiring loom associated with the factory fader set-up. The thing was so buggered up on the wagon that the thumb control would loose its contact with the plug and actually cut out all 4 speakers
