rear deck sub installation in 300E

Hi.
Id like to know if anyone have sub or subs installed on rear deck and what have to be done to install them on rear deck?
I was thinking to buy 1 12" kicker solo barick and install it on rear deck where emergency kit was. I have 1 12" Rockford Fosgate in my trunk but it doesnt sound the way it can due to gas tank obstruction. I want to have sub firing into cabin. Any ideas would be helpfull
Thanks
Victor

I installed a ported subwoofer box in the trunk of my C220. The port fires directly into the cabin through the rear seat. I'm not familiar with your car, but on mine there is an arm rest in the middle of the rear seat. When the arm rest in lowered it exposes a vinyl panel. I removed this vinyl panel and replaced it with color matched speaker fabric. The sub port is directly behind this opening. The end result is great low end response without rattles or major modifications.

If you put a sub in the rear deck make sure it is the 'Free Air" variety.........the other types are too compliant to work well in that application.

I have gas tank right behind rear seat I can't put port inplace of handrest cover I was thinking of cutting through sheet metal under first aid kit and put sub in there and build the box under in the trunk. Im looking for input from other 300E owners if someone did the same install. Thanks

I'm going to make a new read deck cover to raise it enough to clear the tank.....then carpet it with matching carpet.

My fiend Dave put this page up of an rear deck sub install in Finland. The guy is doing a great job from what I can see in pics.

124 Sub in deck

I personally cut 3 5" square holes in my rear deck and covered them with factory (93-95 124) door panel speaker covers. This gets way more than enough bass into the cabin in my car.
