Hi,
I have a 1995 C280 and started it up today, and upon turning on the radio I heard a loud pop coming from the the right rear area inside the cabin - I assume from one of the speakers, but when the antenna mast came up and the radio was on - the system sounded just like normal, but then as I was driving I heard a loud siren like noise from inside the cabin (kind of like hearing a police siren INSIDE my car) and I smelled a burned smell from the speaker grill on the driver's side door - I also felt like a got shocked inside the car espcially near my left leg (near the speaker than smells bad) and I then turned off the radio.
Just so all of you know, I had had a sub and amp installed in the trunk of the car, but I took out all of the wiring that was installed for the amp to make the sub work, and disconnected the wires going to the battery. Please help on this issue - I told my mechanic about it and he said I may have a short in the behind the head unit. Anyhow, what do you think is wrong, and how much of the car must be taken apart (isn't wiring inside the door panels- that must be a pain) or dismantled to accurately diagnose what is wrong with the radio/stereo system. Please help - I'm afriad to use my radio right now.
Thanks,
Troy
