Seems no one actually know anything about the actual diagram for Pin C on the Mercedes connection.

Please dont' just tell me it is for CD changer.........

That looks like the connector to my radio head unit. If so, 8-10 are definitely not what that above diagram describes. On mine, there are three brown wires there, which I believe all run to ground inside the dash. The other end of the cable is apparantly grounded through a different path.

Matt L; can you help me describe what you think they are? (w/ your system? seems I have 8-9-10 brown wire)

Looks just like mine. I think they run to ground, but did not actually look to see where. They run separately from the rest of wires on that plug, which presumably end up at the trunk. Mine's a '96 210, with Bose sound.

Are you trying to attach something to this connector, other than the MB CD player? If so, I'd like to know if it's possible. I'm betting it's not.

Well...I took out the Stock CD changer and Stock Head unit already. (replace w/ a cheap but best OEM-looking Blaupunkt Key West mp3/wma - which is direct plug and play, no need to change wire at all)

About the Slot C...........I just like to know, that's all.

I checked the wiring diagram. 8, 9 and 10 at the head unit do indeed go to ground, and not to the CD player. The rest of the wires do go there, with no additional ground points at the CD player end.

I'm not sure which of the other wires supply a ground to the CD player, but some of the pins on the CD player end (in the trunk) are used for the shields on the signal wires, and the shield around the whole cable.

If your new unit uses analog L+R lines for the audio and doesn't need too many additional wires, you could presumably make adapter cables for both ends to connect an aftermarket CD player to your aftermarket head unit.

It is great that this question comes up now, just as I installed my new Alpine head unit this morning. I bought the Alpine CDA-9856 and it sounds great with the iPod. The only problem is that I have lost the powered "subwoofers" in the front door. There is no sound coming out of them anymore. Previous to changing the Alpine head unit, I tried hooking up a Monster iCruze to the factory head unit. It worked OK but I also lost the woofers in the front door. The iCruze hooked up through the CD changer or C harness behind the radio. Since the Alpine unit is not using this C harness, I am curious if there is something in that harness that is also powering the amps for the front door woofers. Anyone have any idea? I am just looking to get the front woofers working again. Thanks.

have you connect Pin3 (blue/white) of your Alpine to your Pin A-5 of your MB wire?

Also, I believe there is cross-over for the front speakers (at least for 96+ w210 bose) for Stock Bose. Have you hook up correctly w/ your in iCruze?

Just FYI for those of you who are installing an Alpine HU. Turns out my Alpine HU has a power antenna lead and a remote lead meant for amps and sound processors. The power antenna lead will only work for the radio but the remote lead will work any time the HU is turned on. I had A-03 plugged into the power antenna lead. Turns out the Mercedes power antenna is somehow linked to the amp driving the woofers in the front door. So the amp was not being activated when I was listening to the iPod or CD. So my mystery is solved.

I just wish I could separate the amp and power antenna leads. I liked how the antenna only went up for the radio. I hope this helps any other Alpine HU installs with the factory speakers and amps. Maybe eventually I will change the speakers and add a subwoofer but in the meantime, I got everything working. Thanks for everyone's help!

blaupunk radio looks identical the pins configuration are the same
but in blaupunk you can go in the menu software of the radio and change from cd changer to AUX input so you can use

01 Gray CD changer (in trunk) - AUX stereo audio in right
02 White CD changer (in trunk) - AUX stereo audio in left
03 Black CD changer (in trunk) - common/coax shield for 1 & 2
i also have the plugs from blaupunk with the 2 rca jacks but the problem in a mercedes radio is that it needs to see the cd changer to open the port and let you input audio
i don't know if there is any way to go in to the menu of the mercedes radio like the blaupunkt and change the cd changer to AUX
