Antenna dead
I recently bought a 93 300D. Tonight I finally got the stereo to work!! (need code and then had to remove CD changer cables from amp in trunk) However the antenna does not work. It is in the down position. Is it supposed to go up automatically when I turn on the radio, or with a switch? Either way it doesn't do anything. What should my troubleshooting steps be?
Thanks, Mark |

Check your fuse. If it won't work, see if you can hear the antenna motor work? If it don't, most likely the motor is shot.

motor
If the motor does work, you'll hear it going bizzzzz bizzzzz when you have someone turn the radio off and on. If you hear that, that's the motor trying to extend the antenna up and down.
If that's not working, on 2 jap cars I had, it was just a plastic cord of sorts, that hooks up to the antenna and forces it up and down, no big deal. I'm assuming you can buy a generic one on ebay for $20 or so, or maybe find a MB one used. I'm assuming you'll get raked over the coals if you buy new. 1991 300d, 90k |

There is no buzzing, nothing at all. I am an optomist and hoping for something simple. Where is the fuse located? I have checked the fuse box under the hood and all are fine.
