Need Speaker Size for 300te

Anyone have any idea of what size speakers that I have in my 91 300te? The factory ones have all but died so I am thinking about putting some new/inexpensive ones in..any recommendations? What size should I be looking for?

Well, I wouldn't call these inexpensive, but I wish I had 'em:

Yes, they look nice and would sound great with the new kenwood however I want to put as little in as possible as this is just an extra car..got plenty of sound in my daily driver..the passat monsoon systems kicks butt! So I need 4" in front and 5" in back?

Actually, it's 120mm front and 130mm rear. About 4 3/4" front and just over 5" rear. There may be a couple of drop-in options besides OEM, but the only one I know of is the Rainbow set. Which are very good, just very pricey.

Unless you don't mind putting together your own spacers, you might just want to find a set of used OEM speakers.

Do you have rears as well? anyone else have rears?

It sounds like my speakers have had it. Front passenger totally out. The rear drivers side totally out. The front driver is intermittant and the passenger rear is the only one that works all the time. I'm just looking at the most economical way to have tunes in the car.

Waaa... I just installed a new headunit in my wagon...

I used infinity speakers all the way around. I used 4 inch speakers all the way around. The front two were a bit small for the holes, but made a plate from some plexiglass i had sitting around so that it would fit snug all the way around the speaker. In the back, the speakers were a bit too large, and I had to trim two of the tabs off for them to fit correctly. Tie this all into a 4 channel amp and it sounds AMAZING!!!

Actually, my headunit decided to take a dump and quit working yesterday.

If you are going for sound quality, you want to go for aftermarket speakers. The stock speakers cannot match the frequesny response that an aftermarket one can. Not to mention they cannot handle that much power.

The wagon uses 4" at the front and 3 1/2" speakers at the rear armrests.

You can force 4" speaker at the rear armrests location if the speakers are not too deep and you will definetly have to cut metal around the speakers to get rid of part of the brackets.

Usually is best to buy good quality 2-way 4-inch speakers (about $150.00+ pair) for the front and rear (Infiniti, Boston Accoustics come to mind). It will improve considerably the image and sound quality from the factory installed speakers.

Infiniti's Kappas is what I also have on my T. I went to the trouble to add three-way 6 1/2"s Infinity Kappas at the front doors (where the sedans usually have their speakers) to add little more bass punch. The whole setup sounds very nice. Not as nice as the Bose SoundSystem on my S-class though, but still sounds pretty good.
