US Mercedes Comand 2.0 service manual / schematics

Hello,

I am an owner of a 1999 ML430 and 1999 E320 4matic. I have upgraded the ML to MCS navigation and am in process of upgrading the E320 to Comand 2.0. I would like to add a back up camera to the E320 and am looking for schematics for the Comand unit (A210 820 4989) so that I can add an RGB video connector and possibly connect it to the unused front panel button (euro spec Comands have this labelled tv).

There are also third parties that provide very expensive solutions. I am an electrical engineer and have access to a lab to do the work, but schematics and a service manual will be key.

Thanks for taking the time to read this and I will share my experience with the forum when successful.

Thanks and best regards

Jim

I saw this mod for the comand system on another website, I am just not sure which one... Let me see if I can pull it up.

Thank you for your response!

Hello justinwrock,

Thank you much for looking! If you have recommendations to search, I will try to locate the article as well and let you know what I find. I suspect I will need to open the unit up and physically add a connector that may only exist on euro models like the A210 820 4889.

I have the wherewithal and the tools to do such a modification and will document the procedure for this forum if I can get information that will lead me to believe I will not destroy my wife's navigation system (this is not a monetary decision - you understand).

Thanks and best regards

Jim

I do not have acrobat on this computer, but I think it may be on this page.

Take a look if that is it. If it is not, I will continue to look.
