W123 Speaker location/configuration ideas

I have an 84 300D that I'm slowly upgrading. Has anyone experimented with these locations or configurations.

1. First setup
  • mid bass in the back seat door where the ashtray is/was
  • 4" coaxial drop in fit in the dash area ( Xover to remove low freq.)
  • sub in the trunk, maybe 5.25" stock looking drop in on the rear shelf
2. Second
  • same as the first with tweeters in the dash from separates, midbass in the back seat door ashtray location
3. Third
  • mid bass in the front seat door
  • 4" coaxial drop in fit in the dash area ( Xover to remove low freq.)
  • sub in trunk, 5.25 rear shelf
It makes sense for the midbass to be in the back seat door ( I don't ever plan on using the ashtray) already a hole there??? Curious as to how it might sound?

I am using a dash mat from previous owner, I trimmed some of the front speaker locations out and shoehorned in some 6x8" 3-way speakers with 60W RMS and used the dash mat to cover them up.

For the rear I have no rear deck lid (car never came with one . . . previous owner ) The previous owner had also wallowed out the rear holes to fit some 5-1/4" speakers in the rear, so I put some 6x9" 3 ways 80W RMS in felt sound baffles and have them sitting in the holes for the 5-1/4".

No amp hooked up to those, just running them off of my JVC MP3 player w/ aux headphone jack input.

For the trunk I have a 1500W 15" audiobahn in a wedge box with a 1200W Max amp running it very nice sound. also first I great foamed all of the gaps in the trunk construction and then dynamated the heck out of the trunk lid and now no rattles. aside from the fact tat I cannot run my bump because of alternator inadequacies it is a great setup (and even better when the bump is working.
