stereo code
I changed the original battery in my used 1996 C280. The stereo is asking for a code. The owners manual says I should have code cards in the glove box, but they are missing. Anybody have a solution? My vin is WDBH28E9TF382511. There are websites selling the codes, what a scam!

mloghofer,
I'm having a similar problem with my 1995 E280 (W124) which came with a Becker Grand Prix. The previous owner claims to have misplaced manuals for car as well as stereo. Of course whatever cards which were supposed to have come with the car are also missing. From all the help responses that I have received so far, you will need to post the model and serial no. of the stereo unit in order for them to give you the correct code. You may need to remove the stereon unit in order to see these nos. Take a look at my "thread" (?), you might find some of the responses to be helpful. Good luck. Phillip001 |

mlonghofer,
Any dealer can look up the radio code # using your VIN number. [They may require some proof of ID and ownership.] (If someone here doesn't offer it up ,first)

Easy, drive your car in there to the service desk. I had to do that with my BMW radio code and they were nice enough to pop it out for me to check the vin on radio and then find me the code. No charge! Which is rare for a BMW dealer hehe. Mercedes should be just as easy.
