Becker Europa & aux in
My car has a Becker Europa stereo, pictured below. A few questions:
(1) the tape deck doesn't work even with a "tape adapter." Spits the tape right out, and if you push it back in, it started smoking (!). I heard this could be the belt. Do you guys know where to source a belt for this radio? (2) there's what looks to be a DIN connector on the back. Is this a stereo or mono input? Does anyone know the pinouts of the thing? (3) has anyone connected an AUX-IN connector by soldering to the input stage of the amplifier? Got pictures of the location (I'm an electrical engineer, so I know my way around circuits, worst case I'll probe for it). I want to keep the car stock/"vintage" but be able to connect my iPhone to play music. And no, I'm not sending the thing away to Becker in NJ and paying them $100+ to do something that I can DIY for $10. |

I had a Mexico (with tape) rebuilt by Becker and sold recently. It's probably more more than a belt; the capstans (the rubber wheels) and other little rubber bits are probably all shot also.
