I love the stock speakers in my C class but would like a little more bass. I will probably be getting a real good amp, a memphis 1000d, but haven't decided what subs yet as I don't know how best to get bass into the cabin and what the best setup in a c class is. I unfortunetly don't have the fold down seat so no help there. Any ideas on a good setup and what subs I should use, personal experiences would be great, thanks alot guys, asking a lot of questions as I just found this forum and love it, didn't know a place like this existed for mercedes.
thanks
cavan

Just a hint here. Look under the hatshelf of a C-Class... you should see 4 8in cutouts. Now 4 8in subs (JL, Kicker etc) Should push an awful lot of bass in there. 2 should be enough though (be sure to cover the other holes)

HAT SHELF That's the (mostly) flat area just behind the top of rear seatback.

Although I haven't touched the stereo system in my E430 (yet), I do enjoy the 10'' Kicker Solo-baric subwoofer in my Prelude. It is powered by a Precision Power amp and through a Precision Power electronic x-over. This amp also runs my four ADS speakers. The sub's bass is very tight. I bought it because it takes very little space compared to other subs and acts like two subs in one big enclosure. Check out www.crutchfield.com. Good luck.

sorry to shift the topic completely, but how do you like the solaris lights as opposed to piaa's? the website that features them seems to really hype them up as better than piaa's...

Thanks...

oh, btw Cavkid, I went with one 12" sub in a sealed enclosure in my trunk with some small ports cut into where my first aid kit used to be.

flipSyde,

I wrote the following paragraph in the Jan 2, 2000 discussion of "Blue Ion Bulb" in the Tech Help area. There are about 7 replies.

Check out www.autosupermart.com. They compare the Piaas to Solaris. Solaris comes with a 7-day money back guarantee and a 1-year pro-rated exchange for defects.

I have the Piaas Superwhites(H-4's) on one car (Prelude) and the Solaris on the E. I feel that the Solaris are closer (in color) to the OEM/HID bulbs than the Piaas. Naturally, both are not even close to the HID's intensity. Note that Piaa does not make the blue bulb in H-7's. Good luck.

I got 2 12" Kicker XPL's in the trunk of my 560 powered by a 400 watt Auidobahn amp. I took out the first aid kits for ports. You can hear me coming from a block away. The bass is awesome.
I recommend getting Kickers, Cervin Vega, or Rockford.

Supposedly Solaris bulbs are Piaa bulbs in different packaging with a new name. They had trouble selling Piaa's so they made up a new name and said they were better in order to sell them.
The pictures that websites post of new bulbs lighting up the road are fake... Different web sites use the same picture for different bulbs. Dont believe what you see.

Mike
