A Custom Sub Box with 2 12" Woofers ported through the rear deck into the cabin should do you up nicely.

With 300 Watts on each 12, it should hit very nicely.

I would recommend Fosgate Punch DVC with a good 600 watt 2 channel amp.

Should be real boomy with that setup.

i'll try to get pics up sometime soon - im running two audiobahn aw1200s with 500 each in a w123, about the same situation (very well sealed trunk) as a 124. I personally disagree with all the support for rf - i like infinity perfects, idqs, audiobahn alums and of course eclipse.

6 infinity kappa coax's
aura mr675h 90x6
2 aura mr475's, 200x2 each
2 audiobahn aw1200s in a ported box
1f cap

not bad for a car older than me, huh

Just going by recomendation of a friend who I was talking to about doingsomething similar.

I personally prefer orion, or other good brands that hold up well.

Right now I have a 10" Fosgate 8 ohm woofer, with low power on it, and ti adds enough oomf for now to the stock stereo speakers, with aftermarket headunit.

Porting into the cabin would be key, choice of equipment is also dependant on what will sound good, last for a while, and handle the load you are putting on them.

My 10" Fosgate has worked great for 3 years, never blown, and still sounds great.

I know how speakers can be great one year and stink the next, fromt he same manufacturer.

I wish I had some nice old Crunch woofers from 1992. those things hit hard. hehe

As far as the selections go, I do it by how they sound to me. I'm not a power junkie, so I don't need to throw huge power to make it boomy. I prefer clean bass that hits nicely, and feels good wen it vibrates through your body.

I used to be power hunger, had two 12's in my old GMC Jimmy K5, had two 8's in my MGB, had the single 10 in my jeep which thumped, and now that same 10 is in my benz, and it has a crappy amp on it, so it doesn't even hit as hard as it can.

I have nothing against people doing boomy bass. got a buddy who put 3 12's in his 300SE, with 4 6.5's in the rear deck, back deck was fully ported out, front had all new speakers, rear doors had speakers, 3 amps, with about 2000 watts total.

Thing hits so hard, I thought his trunk was going to explode ehehe. inside the cabin, you can hit certain frequencies that Feel like they are pushing your ears into your skull.

Boomy bass is possible, its just a matter of deciding how much sheet metal in the rear deck you want to massacre.

hehe

I don't mean to be rude, but aren't the wheels on your car from an E320, not the E420/ E430. The V8s had a 5 hole design starting the same time as those came out on the V6. Somebody please correct me if I'm wrong

DEEP Bass !

Bass is air !

Pretty simply put.. The more space the more bass. (kinda!)
NOT in all applications is this true for all you Technical guru's, but for all intent and purpose the best bass has a good box and plenty of space to place it in for that standing bass wave.

A box in a box is the best application I experienced !
free air subs are ok but for Hard hitting Deep bass - a sub box in a trunk or in a hatch back car can be stereo altering !

Here is an example of what I did (a little exotic for some) but nice to have that bass !

1994 S600 / 2 JL audio 10's in sealed boxes with center port. / JL Audio 250-1 (sub mono) amp !

I'll bet it sounds good and it looks nice, too. I hope you don't take much luggage when you go out of town, though!

I have a JL W7-3 in a 1.5 cube box powered by a JL 500/1 amp. Wire is important, im sure you know. I ran 6 gauge wire. Slapped some dynamat on the trunk lid.

My amp is MABEY 20% up with NO ports and it sounds wonderful!! My rearview mirror shakes when I turn it up.
